Acid: Extra Ordinary Larry

Funny name, serious delivery.

This cigar is 6 inches of pure smoking pleasure. The 60 gauge size lets you know you have a good one in your hand. The dark wrapper hints at a robust flavor. As opposed to it's more sugary relatives; Kuba Kuba, Wafe and Blondie, the EOL has a more serious flavor. I was first drawn to the Acid line because of the blue wrapper variations that are sweet and smooth to smoke. The EOL is the first of the purple wrapper family that I have tried. I was very pleased with the taste, draw and especially the gauge. Gotta love those fat ones.
This was a spendy sucker too...I guess I have an affinity for the expensive 'gars.
This won't be the last Extra Ordinary Larry that I have, but I won't be stocking the humidor with locally priced merchandise anytime soon.

CAO Soprano "Associate"

I had a CAO cigar tonight called the Associate, one of the Soprano branded cigars. I highly recommend this cigar. The first thing you notice about the cigar is its length; at 5", 52 gauge, it is a prime cigar for me. Its dark wrapper indicates a robust flavor that doesn't disappoint and rests comfortably on the tongue. It has a full flavor yet it is light enough to enjoy without becoming overwhelmed.
Expensive lil' sucker due to the branding of the Sopranos nomenclature. Despite the obvious draw that the brand has, they don't lose sight of offering a quality cigar.
This cigar gets a thumbs up from me.

Don Tomás

I smoked part of a Don Tomás cigar the other night. Rather than boring you with my rendering of the tastes and smooth consumption, I'll share the event.
My husband and I had spent a long day working outside on our deck, yard, and other outside activities one does in 90 degree weather. The day was cooling and the sun was meandering lower and lower. He brings me a cigar, with his selection in tow. We cut, light and enjoy our cigars.
I haven't been feeling well lately, so I only enjoyed a portion of mine. After leisurely rocking on a deck chair, I fired up the grill and cooked chicken for the both of us.

The satisfaction of a completed project, the calm of the setting summer sun, and the feeling of reward as I silently sit puffing next to my husband will all be ingrained into my memory of a Don Tomás.

Although I have consumed more cigars since my first post, I am not all that keen on keeping up with the reporting on each 'gar.
I'll see if I can do better in the future.

FYI - Acids are still my favorite. So sweet...

I am newly introduced to the realm of cigar smoking, so bear with me while I muddle through the basics. My intention is to learn and re-live each moment by recording my experiences. Here are the first four:

Acid Kuba Kuba
This cigar was my first. Good thing too, since it has become the watermark of my short experience. This is the cigar to which I will compare all other cigars. My cherry popper. My first time. My Acid Kuba Kuba.
It was so good to smell, sweet and rich. It tasted great as well. It turns out that they add spices and sugar to the leaves so that it tastes and smells appealing to those of us who were born after the actual Cuban crisis.
A+ in my book (and it's only on the preface)

Padrón 2000
I partook of this cigar while seated at a bench on the side of the Mississippi river. I puffed confidently now, while casually observing the local watercraft and water fowl activity. It was the perfect day, perfect temperature, perfect slight breeze. I enjoyed this cigar because of it's smooth taste left on my tongue. Light and woody.

Romeo y Julieta Aniversario
Very tightly wrapped - difficult to punch as well as light. Kept a tight ash but also difficult for me to keep lit due to my slower style of smoking. I have a smaller and infrequent draw.
Full taste yet still light on the tongue.

Note: I use a cigar punch rather than a cutter. I am opposed to the tobacco getting stuck to my teeth and the punched hole limits the escapees.
